SMEs play a crucial role in the development of Ghana, and their growth is vital for the growth of the country's economy. However, the high cost of electricity for SME operations has negatively impacted their resilience and profitability. This cost has become unsustainable due to the widespread use of diesel-powered generators for electricity production. This, in turn, contributes to the climate change problem by increasing greenhouse gas emissions. To address this challenge, renewable energy sources like solar photovoltaic are seen as the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly power solution for SMEs in Ghana. Despite this, financing, lack of knowledge, market barriers, and regulatory challenges have hindered the adoption of renewable energy by SMEs.

The project aims to increase awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy adoption among SMEs and remove barriers to adoption. The project will conduct sensitization workshops and distribute a "Renewable Energy Use Guide" to provide information on the use, impact, and financial benefits of renewable energy. The guide also aims to influence SMEs' energy source choices for their businesses and sustain the advocacy initiative.
